HHow low can a legacy estate be dropped without scewing up the handling??
#2
Which era? Tyres/wheels modded?
Lack of camber adjustability at the rear, and even up front on early ones, can mean your range is pretty small - and *handling* is very personal
30-40mm seems to be pretty popular on recent ones, but they do need care as the wheel/tyre package can make things very iffy (clearance etc).
Cheers

Not sure about the first generation like yours, but I converted my 94 GT-B to adjustable coilvers (information on my website) so that I could experiment with the ride height (and rate) until I got just how I wanted.
It now handles superbly (It has got bilstein inverted struts as well) but it is noiser and firmer than standard
Don't know how low it is now compared to standard but probably40-50mm, a lot of people suggest more negative camber to improve handling so you won't necessarily be screwing things up by lowering

Wouldn't suggest going much beyond 30mm as the lower you go the less travel - no one looks very smart looking backwards out of a hedge after skipping off due to a bumpstop thumping bump or pothole.
Natch it depends if you are talking about going for a full swap out a la Paul, or just going springs...std wheel/tyre pack should not be too much of an issue - but I have heard of a guy who got tyre>body contact in corners after lowering his BF (unfortunately he did not know why).
Have fun
