Cool

Before this one takes off again ...

TSL will probably have done a good job aligning your wheels. That helps tremendously, especially when they were way out to begin with.

But I would not imagine they would call it the "bumpsteer" mod.

We generally speak of "da bumpsteer mod" when your rack is shimmed to eliminate toe-out when the suspension compresses. You need 2 fat ugly blokes to hang on your car to measure bumpsteer

Hope this explains it somewhat in a way satisfactory to all the parties

Hi crack!

thanks for the post!! . When the Scooby community talk of the "bumpsteer" mod., they are generally referring to moving the postion of the steering rack.

We have left the rack precisely where it was. All the other benefits come from precise alignment alone!

Glad you're happy anyway!... just watch yerself in the ice chap! ...

Take care

Talking

Had my Subaru Turbo a few months now and I have to say I didn't rate the handling at all.

1) It felt like a big barge going round bends at anything over 20 mph. The front didn't want to turn in and the back felt like it was not connected to the front and would swing out(it felt like a big old Volvo).

2) Going down a bumpy road it used to hit bumps and nearly take off

3) The outside edges of the tyres have worn down a lot, for number of miles I've done.

So after much arsing about I Went down to TSL to have the famous bump steer mod done.

The car is miles better(it really does feel like a different car)
The cars steering feels better and lighter.
The front end wants to turn in , and I can increase the amount of steering input mid corner and It will turn in more , before it would just run wide.
The back end follows the front and doesn't swing out(it's like the cars been shorted into a hot hatch)
Both ends of the car work together.

Going down bump road at speed it doesn't want to take off, much more stable and not as scary.

Well pleased with the results and worth the cash.
BTW my front wheels where the most out of line the mechcanic had seen.(do I get a prize?)

Regards The Crack
