Default Rear helpers' removed in AST 2's?

I have read a few times (from all the GURUS ie fuzz, 911, Andy etc,) that the hot set-up is to remove the helper springs from the rear coils. I know they are fully compressed at ride height and supposedly they 'help keep springs in contact' with the perches. So what does taking out accomplish? AND I guess you will have to adjust the perch to fill the void. Does this help with ride quality? danielle

Less noise.
because there is no helper spring "tapping" shut (coil binding if you like)over large undulations.
