Default Handling mods, V5 STi

I need some new droplinks for my V5 STi wagon before MOT time in Dec.
I know that these were normaly fitted with the steel ball joint style however I've since found out that some wagons, inc mine, were fitted with standard steel wishbones with the plastic droplinks !
I wanted to upgrade to some Whiteline's but was advised that this would only cause the car to be more prone to understeer.

So I need to also look into improving things at the rear.
The question is, would it be advisable to fit a new uprated ARB and droplinks at the back and fit uprated droplinks to the front or should I look at also fitting an uprated ARB to the front also ?
I know that STi's were normaly fitted with a stronger ARB but the fact that mine has the steel wishbones would this still be the case ?

Thanks, Jon.
