I have ast 12way suspension, and mine knock on the rear. I spoke to curtis at Scoobyshoot out in May. and he said it was due to the soft damping spring at the top of the strut, which is a little too hard and sometimes gives a knock. They are supposed to be sourcing a softer version and would be ready in a few months. I will need to check if they have done this as my car needs doing under warranty

Hi guys
I too have the AST, the 3 way adjustable, and have the knock noise, at low speed and esp when coming our of car parks over speed bumps.
I suspect it is the follower springs - which is what I think Andy is referring to. Curtis suggested it would bed in and go away after a few weeksd but I guess not. It has no effect on the handling or performance of the car, just a bit disconcerting, esp when the roll cage magnifies all the sounds!

Mine only started doing it after a spring change. On the original springs it was quiet as a mouse but then the struts had to be removed to go to stiffer springs and the nearside rear started to knock.
I think it's related to the seating position in the top mount. Ledas suffered with the same problem IIRC.

Perhaps Powerstation could comment.

i've had alsorts of shocks fitted to uk turbo, p1, spec C with the AST 12 ways, and they've all knocked only on near side rear.
you can't hear them knocking if you where a helmet

So true!
My 12 click AST's were never noisey (Sti rear top mounts).
The '3 way' AST's with same springs (as in exactly the same, just transfered over) will knock on the nearside rear as all of you above. My AST's have the AST pillow ball top mounts, so that possibly rules out the top mounts.
I think the helper spring theory is a good one, but the car is ballistic.
Will ask Powerstation to take a look over Xmas/Winter.

Just had a track day at Blyton with WYIOC - rough old track but the ASTs keep the car under good control - the guys watching noted how planted and flat the car looked in comparison to the other scoobs. I kept the high speed compression pretty soft, as the track is so rough.
Treating her to a smoother run out at Cadwell in November so maybe can tweak it stiffer for that.
With the roll cage, seat and harness the car now feels great - the feedback is just on a different level.

Yep!
Enjoy!!
As an aside, you might have seen these before, but they always make me so pleased to run on AST's!

I've had the AST 12 way's fitted too and sometimes get a knock. Also since having them fitted my cars been pulling to the left. The gap between the NSR tyre and arch is smaller then the gap on the OSR. The fronts are fine and i'm not getting any shaking from the steering wheel which leads me to think the balance is ok.
Can anyone advise me??

Never had any knocking on my AST 3way adjustables, apart from the odd dry knock (when having a lot of wet weather driving)..... a trip to Powerstation and a quick spray of silicone soon sorted that.
For coilovers, I can't believe how quiet they are.
Regards,
Shaun.

It was Curtis. I just find it strange how the NSR can be lower than the OSR. And i've tried it in a few different locations to make sure it's not on a slant etc etc
I'm going to ProSport to get it checked out
