Red face My car looks like a 4x4????

Just changed my 2 Rear shocks for some 2nd had ones as mine leaked...and now for some reason i have a gap of near 2" above the tyres all round...

Eibach springs are also fitted 2 weeks ago to the car..

Would these take some time to sink in?

Eibach's hardly lower the car at all..... was the car lower on the old knackered shocks and Eibach's?

The pics look like what i'd expect of Eibachs to be honest.

Yes, they would take time to settle. Not sure how long though. I have the same, but with 18" alloys.

The car was lower before the Shock change..My rear tyres used to rub on the arches if i have one person in the back...though now the gap is so big...it just looks silly...

Will give it some time then failing all i guess i will look into chaging to some new gass shocks or something i guess...

Running 18" alloys...

Reading peoples reviews on here on Eibach's on SN they made it sound like the car lowers enough so that you may need to worry about the bumper going over speedbreakers and the exhaust hitting the ground etc.....

It's not ALL about lowering. I fitted Eibach's purely to make it handle better on the road. Personally, if it lowered it a little I was happy. I wasn't looking for a ground-hugger as it can ruin the handling IMHO.

horses for courses and all that

LOL... if the rear arch was touching the tyre your rear shocks/springs had had it!!!! No wounder it has increased the ride height!!!

Don't know how long ago you read back on Eibach's but it was well known that from ages ago that Eibach's seemed to lower a Uk car to what the JDM ride height was.... so about 15mm or so..... not the 40mm i seem to hear now and again.

As for them causing problems with speed humps... i have Ledas and set quite low and have no problems at all. Fuzzy pic but i basically have no gap between the arch and tyre:

I thought it was springs which pretty much govern the ride height of a vehicle..? No doubt if a shock has completely failed and offers no resistance then the car might drop a little bit, but doesn't the spring do all the height work, hence why some folk (daftly) cut them shorter..?

I remember on my ol' Rover Tomcat that I needed some race-spec springs on the rear because a set of 25% updated ones just couldn't support the **** of the car properly.

Who installed the springs Sam? I presume they are aligned properly in the hats? If not the spring will be twisted..... this will cause a few things to happen.

It is a 4x4
Looks fine m8, nevertheless it will drop another 10mm or so after a week of driving.

Thumbs up

Sam

I have an sti2 and it was quite low to start with but when i put my new kyb agx shocks and my new eibach springs on it actually raised the ride height quite a bit. I was not happy at all at first but now i have had it setup and have driven it in anger it certainly feels SO much better, doesn't bottom out on the bumpstops or roll at all through the corners. For fast cross country progress there isn't anything better. Coilovers although great for the track are compromised for the road and have to have harder springs to compensate for the low ride heights they can run with. Stick with it and you will get used to it.
