Knocking or normal?
Recently purchased an 02 STI with Prodrive lowering springs and when I drive over bumps etc in the road I get a mild knock/thud type noise (more so at the rear - boot always empty). It is fine at all other times so is this just the hardness of the suspension? The car has covered 30,000 miles. Cheers.
P.S. Also, does anyone else suffer from condensation?

I too have this problem which started when the springs were fitted. I have had the shocks replaced and this didn't cure the problem. Dealer seams to think it is the spring which is at fault as everything else has been checked.
I am hoping to get the spring sorted and will give feedback in a few weeks.

When you say sorted, do you mean new springs?

I am hoping to get the spring changed under warranty as they are just within the 12 months. Car handles fine, but sounds as though the suspension is loose when I go over pot holes. Its ok under compression, but clunks when returning from an extension as experienced over pot holes and such.
Out of interest, I have had the car in bits at the back to eliminate the possibility of it being something else. Even had my mate in the back with his head stuck through the arm rest gap into the boot. This worried my as his **** was stuck in the air, and didn't want to explain that to a police officer !!!!! Not sure he would of believed me !!!

Reading all these very many threads here regarding 'knocking rear suspension' is not good. I recently bouight an 03 STi with 7k. The rear suspension was knocking over every bump and small dip in road, a sound like I had something loose in the boot. Got the car diagnosed by a main dealer as faulty rear struts. Had them changed under warranty, also had Prodrive springs fitted, and the car is knocking again, not as loudly, but nevertheless there is definitely a fault which I want sorted asap. It's going to Cheam Motors Thursday morning so i'll post what they find.

This does seem very common.
People have had struts, top mounts and springs changed to no avail.
It does seem to be a characteristic of the inverted struts, lots of threads about this in the states.

Cheam motors called earlier and said the knocking from the rear of my STi 03 was a loose rear spoiler!! Thank God. They replaced the 2 rear struts and topmounts only 3 weeks ago, they also replaced a faulty front strut! I hope there are no other problems in future with the car.
