Default Rear Tower Strut Braces

Has anyone fitted the above? If so, good mod?

Saw one fitted to an sti wagon on an Aussie website and the owner was raving about it stiffening up the rear. Curious is anyone here has done this.

Hi Daveo. I think the benefits are more cosmetic really although they do stiffen up the rear

Mike,

the MD is getting fitted as we speak so i'll let you know how it feels in the near future!! I've seen you've been getting some stick for your VF34 figures - stick at it mate.

I have fitted both front and rear strutbraces to my STi,admittedly it was more for show than anything else

but I'm convinced that they've made a noticeable improvement.

Most of my driving is done on Belgium roads where they use a special blend of non-grip tarmac and I constantly find the front wheels losing grip on even the slightest of bends with only a moderate application of right foot.

This used to result in me backing off immediately then sh1tting myself as the back end tried to overtake the front as I battled to control the ensuing tank-slapper(I've managed to spin it twice so far.Once was in front of a crowd of people waiting for a Tram where they actually gave me a round of applause, ahem).

anyway, with the strut braces fitted it certainly feels more controllable in the same circumstances, as the rear end seems to wash out before the front does now....hope that helps, particularly if you are a carp driver like I am

Jon

I've found that rear strut braces have the most optimum effect
once you've upgraded the suspension

if you're on Factory suspension, you wont notice much of a change
but on aftermarket setup, stiffer setup, there is a slight difference

regardless, it's a cheap mod - not much $ to waste
so why not do it ?

I have both ali strut braces on the front and rear on my STI 5, sold the carbon as it's more a show item than helping to stop the car flexing under hard cornering.

I don't feel fitting a rear strut brace is for show unless you drive around with the boot up

They will add stiffness to the car which can't be a bad thing in any case and they will help keep the desired geometry settings in tack under hard cornering as intended
