LEDA are a very professional company, and the black sleeve you show is a quite expensive moulding.
I think they would use bubble wrap if the purpose was to protect the spring from 'transit damage' in the post, so I would say it is meant to be left on the unit and act sa a slash guard to protect the strut saft fron salt water/grit off a UK road.
If during driving the strut compresses fully, the black sleeve might touch the damping control ****, but being very flexible will simply bend and return to a correct shape later.
When fitting them make sure the top of the moulding does NOT prevent the top mounting to be screwed tight 'metal to metal'; do not sandwich the plastic top as the strut will not be tight to the chassis.
Have you asked LEDA, or are you trying to fit them this Xmas while they are on holiday?
Happy New Year!

It is not very flexible and onot comes through rings what hold spring. Its on my car now - without it.
Its very bad time to get answer from Leda, I have to wait till new year so it can happen they say it is cover and I can start with remove and geometry setup again. Good time to get adjustabele top mounts
Thank for answer and happy new year.

Erik, you should have received an email from me earlier.
911 is spot on - these are meant to protect the units from the elements, not for packing purposes.
Thanks 911

Yes here it is:
Hello Erik,
These are our 'plastic dirt shields' which should be kept on, as they help to protect your units from dirt, stones etc.
Happy New Year
