Default May be a dumb question, but.....

I`ve been looking around a few scooby sites -Legacy Central etc- and keep seeing that Scoobs are little bit like lego in that lots of parts are interchangable.

My dumb question is would the shocks and springs off 96 turbo Impreza fit on a 90 Legacy?

Not quite.
The Impreza springs and dampers (if they're non-adjustable) will be a bit soft for the leggy. Also I believe the rear struts on the 1st gen leggy, like yours, are longer than the Impreza rears.

Oh well, it was worth a try! Just failed MOT with holed offside rear strut and saw a set of 96 Turbo Impreza shocks on ebay much cheaper than new rear struts.

With regards to the Impreza springs being softer, I wouldn`t have thought they`d be much different. The weight difference between the two isn`t huge and the Impreza being slightly nose heavy should have a stiffer setup. Or am I way off base?

You will gather I`m not the most knowledgable scooby owner

cheers

Got this reply to my question over at legacycentral

(they should, 96 uk = 97 us right, and thats still gc/gf/gm chassis so yes they should work fine Assuming both the cars are the same drivetrain type.)

If these would fit my Leggy I`d hate to miss them

Come on folks, there must be more than one person in 3 days to have an idea on whether the shocks will fit a `90 legacy.

This IS a Subaru site isn`t it?

I've just bought some STI front units for mine, and i know they fit straight on cus my mate has done the same, havn't got round to the rears yet so i dont know, i want some STI rears now!

If i were you i'd get STI instead, as they totally change the car.
