Prodrive springs and wheels for STi8 - any good?
Hi all
I've been quoted £2000 for prodrive springs and 18" wheels for my STi8 - and basically I was interested in other peoples comments on this mod.
Essentially is it the best path to follow? And is this a reasonable price (fully fitted).
Also, which tyres would people reccomend - I know that this is a hugley subjective question, but what I am after is removing some of the 'twitchyness' of the OE set up.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated
All the best
Dave.

Dave, was the £2K quote for all items (18"wheels, tyres, springs) and fitting? Looking at this for my 03STi as well and trying to see if any dealers are doing discounts on the whole package.

The Prodrive springs are considered the best, and there is some debate as to whether the Eibachs are the same spring. Some say it is, some say that although Eibach make the Prodrive spring, they have to manufacture their own to a different spec Either way, both will significantly improve the handling of the car without compromising ride quality too much, with the Eibachs being 50quid or so cheaper. For even better results, combine with revisions to the anti roll bars, rear drop links and fit an anti-lift kit. I was quoted 750 by Powerstation, and a friend was offered a similar set-up for 550ish from Scoobyclinic. As for the wheels, to keep the badges neat then go Prodrive, but as their wheels are made by OZ savings can be had. Legerras can be had for around 1100 in 18", but you may need 19" due to the STi brakes.
Finally, never underestimate the importance of a good geometry set-up following suspension work. I personally wouldn't trust most dealers with this critical part of the job, which is why (as well as cost) I prefer the specialists mentioned.

Last week I had the Prodrive geometry settings applied to my std 03sti and the difference is amazing, std springs and wheels.
It cost me £80 all in.
The settings from the factory were 0 deg camber at the front equal, now changed to 1deg 10minutes both sides. This combined with the other Prodrive settings for toe has made me question the need for lowering springs and 18” wheels.
I honestly think it’s now me who needs more driving skills rather than the car needing any work.
Well impressed and saved a lot of money.
