Upgrade STi3 roll bars?
I've an STi 3 with the prodrive bilsteins and eibachs, is it worth considering upgrading the standard anti roll bars to whiteline? would like to remove the understeer if poss.

Kevin, I have an Sti v3 with lots of suspension mods for hill climbs and the road.
The Whiteline 22mm bars front and rear with the Anti Lift Kit will go a very long way, but do get the car accurately aligned by a good company, ie Power Station/TSL/Roger Clark Motorsport. Also, get some REALLY good tyres!
The car will be transformed, then you will be ready for more extreme mods......
Good luck,

Cheers 911, I've a set of 18" prodrive OZ's with P Zeros to go on Tuesday (birthday ) hoping to get alignment sorted shortly after. Is the whiteline kit better than the standard STi roll bars? Do fancy the ALK kit - can I fit it myself? I live a million miles away from any of the places that fit this stuff.

Whiteline will be better than your current STI rollbars simply because they are thicker and stiffer.
Whether a 22mm Whiteline bar is better than any other 22mm bar is debatable, but the point with the ARB's are the increase in thickness. This stops the bar twisting as much and giving you less body roll and more mechanical grip.
I'd maybe look at an adjustable one for the rear as this can give you 22mm and 24mm (IIRC) on the rear. This may give a better setup than 22mm front and back.
Cusco is another option for ARB's.
ALK can be done DIY, although the bolts can be a right barstewart to undo. If you have access to good, solid tools and a ****-off socket set/wrench it should be easy enough. You need to get the car's alignment checked after fitting the ALK (IIRC).

The Whiteline rear bar comes with 3 positions pre drilled. For hill climbing i use the hardest (stiffest) setting, the soft setting is really nice on the road.
Agree with all Steffan's comments.
The bolts on my Grey Sti simply unscrewed! Getting the journal shafts off the cast wishbones was a real adventure......

I maybe wrong, but I think the stiffest setting on the Whiteline bar is equivelant to a 24mm bar.
I have OE front and the adjustable Whiteline set to the middle setting. I think this is equivelant to a 22mm rear bar.
Not sure what the thickness of the OE front one is. 19mm possibly??

Apologies for highjacking this thread but since two of you have STi3s I'm hoping you may be able to give some advice. What's the std suspension like? Reason I ask is that a mate is wondering whether it would be worth fitting STi3 dampers and springs to his classic. Would this provide any significant improvement over his std set up?
Thanks in advance, guys.

Can't help you there I'm afraid, my car had the Prodrive bisteins fitted when I purchased it - took me a year to discover this though Personally I find the bilsteins and eibach a bit soft. Tell your mate to buy the last Jap performance mag, good suspension article in there based on a ver 3.

The JAP Car mag 'summary' article is very good, and an excellent template for tuning a Scooby road car.
The Sti V3 suspension is very very nice, for the road, for the track it is fairly weak which is why I'm on coil overs............
Take the Sti suspension, add Whiteline 22mm roll bars, good tyres and a VERY good alignment and you will have a very nice chassis for the road!
Just do it,
