Default "Grinding" noises with Eibachs!!

I'm getting some horrible grinding noises from the front end when I turn anywhere near full lock.

My car has a set of Eibach springs on it and I just wondered if anyone else had experienced the same thing?

There's also an occasional "squeek" sort of noise which sounds like it's from somewhere like the steering column, in the footwell......any ideas??

Cheers,

Marty

Full lock grinding sounds like worn steering gears?? most VM's recomend very short usage on full lock due to the internal pressure generated. Second noise again sounds like the rack- get it checked out. If not take the car to a specialist and get the tracking/suspension re-calibrated.

Question

Has this just started since the eibachs were fitted? Or shortly after?

Shortly after.....ie....within days.

It seems worse when getting near full lock and going over bumps at the same time......ie....getting into my drive/roadway.

Wink

Hi
If the top spring mounts have not been lined up properly, the springs have a tendancy to move leaving the springs out of line. The noise on lock to lock will be the spring moving and the top cap on the spring possibly catching on the inner wing.
I would check that the springs have been seated properly as they dont need to be far out for them to do what you are describing.
Hope this helps
Jt

Cool

agread the end of the coil on the eibacks is the oposite waty round than the OEM ones so if u try and line up the rubber seatings as they came off the originals then the top seatings [which are oval]will rub on the inner arch on lock.
