It depends on how hard they are used, but:
I think it is generally accepted that they start to become less efficient after about 30 - 40k miles (ie you might just be able to tell the difference if you swapped them for new ones), but will still be useable up to about 80k miles, by which time they should be changed. However, if you drive hard, and on very bumpy roads, then the life expectancy could be reduced.

My car seems kinda loose now.
Feels as tho its wallowing a bit more.
done 30k, just had the service yesterday.
Dealer reckons its got more life left, so ill run it for a few k more.
dont fancy the idea of the uprated suspension - 20mm lower! 2cm less snow to move.
