Replaced my rear drop links a year ago on my 1994 WRX following a knocking noise from the rear near side which cured the noise.

Following six hill climbs and a track day (the car gets little other use), I have a knocking noise when I go over bumps on the front offside.

It sounds perhaps like the suspension but unlike the rear which was a knock/thump this is a metal to metal type click/knock which is getting worse.

Is it likely to be the front drop links or something else - any ideas ?.

Sounds like it might be the damper top nut loose, it will knock on the strut top bearing.
Ideally you need a ring spanner on the nut and I think it is an allen key hex in the top of the damper so a 5 or 6mm or whatever size allen key in the top of the damper to stop it turning while you tighten up the nut.

Failing that, get underneath the front of the car and try pulling on the droplinks. If they are that worn you will notice a fair bit of free play, my rear ones were bad before I replaced them.

Will look at both but I am sure the damper bolt isn't loose.

Nothing obvious and it sounds low down on the suspension rather than at the top of the damper, so perhaps it is play in the front drop link.

It almost sounds like a metal to metal sound that something like either side of the heat shield would make if coming together if the nut and bolt wasn't done up tightly but I have already checked this.
