I seem to experience tramlining on my car not only when I brake heavily (which I understand is to be expected) but also if I catch a strange camber when moving across a lane for example.
The symptom is that you initiate the 'turn' and as you move across the lane you suddenly start to straighten up and have to apply a little more turn to carry on the manouver at the same rate. Of course you have to be ready to release that extra force as you cross the camber and your turn rate suddenly increases.

I have heard that various geometry settings can be applied with different effect.
I am quite happy with the handling of the car at present which is quite neutral but I wonder if anyone has experienced these symptoms and successfully corrected them without changing the handling too much.

I should also add that these symptoms are not extreme as even my girlfriend says it isn't that bad (and she moans at everything!).

I noticed this behaviour appeared when I had the standard geometry settings changed to the Prodrive ones.

What model is your car? Do you know if is geometry is as standard?

cheers,
Rob.

Rob.

It is a 98 STi4 with Bilstien suspension.
The Bilstiens incidentally were an STi option fitted in Japan but I guess they will be similar to the Prodrive items?
I don't know anything about the geometry settings though.

What are the prodrive settings for camber and toe-in that you applied?
