Powerflex bushes on late MY????
#1
Hi there; can anyone comment on having the front wishbones and frt&rr anti-roll bar bushes replaced by powerflex ones on a 97MY?
I know they are stiffer as standard but will I notice the difference over 2year old ones?
Do they reduce the tendancy to understeer (on power)?
I`m going for a track blast next week - new tyres with prodrive geometry so I thought I`d get the bushes done as well!!
I`ve done a search on the BB and yes people have said they noticed an improvement but generally only on older cars where the bushes may have degraded allready!
PS 15K miles on ContiSport with prodrive geometry and NO SCUFFING of inside shoulder........

After my first trackday in my new Type R I found the standard bushes ended up very badly chewed up and replaced them for Powerflex ones and that made a noticeable difference to the car for the better.

On this subject has anyone had a problem after fitting these bushes of slight vibration due to the sleeves being too big? It doesn't cause much of a problem but the noise is a nuisance!

Hi mark,
I fitted the Powerflex bushes and before they went on the car I noticed that they were narrower than the Subaru parts. As I had heard that the standard ones had a habit of jumping out of their mountings I thought I'd try and do something about it.
The clamps are just pressed steel so I used a large hammer to bend the sides over more so the Powerflex bushes fitted with no slop. This also meant there was a little more metal around the sides of the bish to stop it moving.
So far so good and no rattles.
