How much lowering?
#1
Hello,
I've read somewhere that is not recommended to lower the suspension (by means of smaller springs) more that 20mm (considering that you are keeping the original KYB dampers). Doing that it seems that you can compromise the suspension efficiency...
Any comments?

This is a relatively complex topic and you need to be very careful in what you will do. Depending on the type (progressive or constant rate coil-over) of spring/damper combination, as well as the type and quality/purpose of the damper itself you can go as low as 30-35mm lower at the front and 25-30mm at the rear with the Impreza.
Again, the secret is in the optimum spring/damper choice as well as the strength of the spring and bump/rebound characteristics of the damper. If your dampers will be adjustable you can experiment with the settings for bump and rebound fairly easily. Straight (coil-over) springs should also have adjustable ride height, but that is nowhere near as easy to play with as it may seem (you neeed the car off the ground, etc.)
For safety, it is better to keep the car a few mm higher (rear end in particular) in order to maintain a clean distance from the ground.
Hope this helps.
