Eibach springs - MY03
I am looking to fit an Eibach spring kit to my MY03 WRX, but keep reading all sorts here about geometry etc.
I was hoping to just spend my £166, then pay a local garage to fit them, simple as that!
I drive medium/hard, but only on the road - no track days or anything like that.
Is this a bad move?
Am I likely to upset the handling, give strange tyre wear or anything even more sinister?
Your comments would be appreciated.
John.

i changed the springs on my 01wrx to eibach courtesy of TSL and found that the handling improved no end mate. You do need to get the wheels aligned properly afterwards though.
It changed the car for me, bit of a bumpier ride on B roads but the handling improvement made up for that!!

Or the Prodrive springs from Subaru, part no. SACC2566. See post re: ride compromise.
Whatever you get make sure you get them fitted by someone who knows what they're doing with the geo stuff. TSL, Powerstation etc. The Subaru garage did mine. Not cheap but one-stop shopping for me.

Eibachs are well worth it. They do firm up the ride a little, but you should notice quite an improvement in handling (less understeer). You should also see a drop in ride height of around 10-15 mm. However, if you just put the Eibach's on don't do the geometry then you are wasting your time. There is no point. Spend the extra and have someone like Powerstation fit the springs and do a full laser alignment at the same time. No more uneven wear on your tyres and a much nicer handling car.

Thanks for the comments.
Looks like it is not as simple as first appears to do it right.
I see a lot of references to Power Station etc on here, but being up here in the north east (Durham) its a little impractical for me.
I don't have a lot of faith in my local main dealer here (GMD Subaru) to do anything right, so does anyone know of any reputable establishments in my area?
Cheers.

this thing i dont get
is when you fit springs they tend to bed in and sag a little over time after fitment, so fitting new springs and having a geometry check striaght away is a bit pointless, as it will need doing in a few weeks after the springs have bedded in.
agreed?

TSL (in Nottingham I think) are highly regarded and may be nearer to you. Paul on 01159 377200/1 is your man.
As for not doing geometry when fitting springs, would have thought dropping the ride height without re-adjusting would throw the whole thing out significantly, making the handling potentially unpredictable, possibly causing tyre wear etc....??

Powersation fitted mine and did all the setup at the same time. There were no problems and the car was noticably better straight away. This hasn't changed and I've never had the problems with uneven tyre wear since then. So in my experience it didn't make any difference.

Fitting mine myself next saturday and will leave it a week before i get the geometry done, the leaflet that comes with the springs says to a adjust the tyre pressures to the new settings then do a road test to allow settlement then do the geometry
