New Prodrive Springs finally out for STi
#1
Mine cost me £140+VAT, for fitting and geom. check on my STI 7.
That was at Powerstation in Chelt.
Dealer wanted some ridiculous amount.

is warranty affected if fitted by powerstation rather than dealer ??
update ...
just phoned my dealer for availabilty and quote. he's checking on availablity and reckoned £265 incVAT to fit. and said it would not affect warranty if fitted by non-subaru dealer.

SIMO WHAT DEALER DID THAT FOR YOU,IT WAS FLIPPIN' CHEAP CONSIDERING THE SPRING KIT COST £225 INC. VAT.
so why the flippin' dealers charge so much for the work where as some of you guys have quoted real good prices for the work!

It was mine. The impression I got was that they had an other car to do & they were going to review time / cost after doing that one. The extra time on mine may have been lack of knowledge imho as they could not get and negative camber to start with. After an other test drive to settle the car on the springs they then could ?? to my knowledge, only 1 call was made to prodrive. Speak with them again and see how they get on with the next car. Fitting time should be approx 2 hours so imho I feel that something might have been missed. Mind you fitting time on a boost gauge was quoted at approx 1 hour & it took Floyd & myself over 2hrs. (the template given with the instructions was wrong thou so we ended up re - drilling holes to secure. All working now thou the bulb failed straight away??
cheers simon

Cool, have been waiting for these.
One quick question though, obviously you should declare all mods to your insurer, but would the spring kit affect the premium?
Cheers
Peter
Edited because I can't spell!

These will be available hopefully from stock at Subaru next week.
Part number is SACC2555, price is £225 + fitting for springs and front bumpstops.
Thank you all for your patience whilst our supplier finally managed to supply us with what we wanted.
Regards
Mike

I'm on holiday for a week now so don't feel offended if I don't answer any questions

Brewsta if these are anything like the MY01/02 springs then they should lower it by about 25mm. Are they STI only? Someone apart from Mike must know.

Great news that these springs are finally out.
Does anyone know what the effect on the ride and handling of the car will be?
Will the ride be harsher and if so will it be noticeable?
Will the bounce disappear? if you have an STI8 you will know what I mean.
Will the handling be improved or is it just a pose factor.
Finally I read somewhere that lowering a car reduces the drag coefficient, is this the case and if so does that mean we should get better fuel economy with the new springs?

Will these springs lower the car?
Can these be fitted to the MY03 WRX or do we have to wait longer for our uprated springs?

Thanks, Nick.

Nick thanks for the information. I cant wait for the MY03 WRX springs to come out! Keep pushing it through.
Also while I think about it (and someone from Prodrive is reading the thread) any word on when the MY03 WRX WRC metal grills might be available?

Nick,
How important are the bump stops? What effect do they have?
Will they be available for my MY2002 STi? (already got Prodrive springs + PPP)
Thanks in advance.

Yes, the bounce is significantly reduced (especially at the front).
Would love to try this setup out

The bump stops supplied with the 03MY STi suspension kit have been designed to overcome certain characteristics present on the 03 car, which were not present on the 02 car. We do not feel the need to make them available for the 02 car.
SU3ARU
The grilles are similar in deign to those we supply for the 01/02MY WRX (you can view this grille in the products section at prodrive.com if you are not too sure what it looks like)
Thanks, Nick.
