wrx/sti springs fit sport?
#1
Just want one thing comfirmed, would a set of standard springs from a WRX or STi fit on a classic sport?
Was looking to fit just the springs without the dampers. Anybody done it or have any advice?

this is making a few assumptions with the usual disclaimers etc...
but,
MY01+ prodrive wr-sport springs fit the wrx and gx (modern sport?),
people put classic eibachs onto wrx for a while and found they fitted (but spring rates different AFAIK) and hence wrx springs "might" fit a classic turbo and if classic turbo springs are similar to classic sport springs you "could" have a chance,
but the mass of the modern wrx is different to a classic and so the springs are not designed for the same performance criteria (rate, linearity etc) - this could mean that the springs won't work well with classic dampers and the ride would be terrible...
that's thinking out loud but get some "official" advice before you try it...
are you wanting to try this instead of the full classic wr-sport kit as it includes dampers as well? how about eibachs for the classic?

Was just thinking about dropping the sport down a tad. The suspension could do with stiffening up a bit also. My look into fitting a complete wrx kit (dampers and springs).
Only considering this as secondhand shocks are around at sensible money.
Thanks for your thoughts.

not wanting to pour too much cold water on your ideas but would a wrx spring / damper setup actually fit? were the suspension mounting points changed from the classics to newage?
and also, are secondhand dampers a good bet unless they're rebuildable (e.g. Leda etc)? - you might not know their "life history" up to when you get them
