What's the difference in Sports and STi7 suspension?
#1
Anyone know what the specs are for the STi7 struts? Are they the same as the sports suspension kit for the WRx?
I know the sports kit has a 40mm strut (22mm for Standard WRx)...
Also, do you know the spring rates for sports and STi7 if different...
I'm sure this has been asked before...but but...

The v7 struts are 40mm inverted, damping front 2396/791N, rear 1668/690N @ 0.3m/sec
v7 springs 217 front (linear), 190 rear (single progressive)
Are you talking the STi "sport" setup- the pink bits? I've got damping/spring rates for those.

Yes those specs are for the v7 red struts. Over here the dealers are selling them under the SPT (Subaru Performance Tuning) badge, as a bicycle manufacturer has trade marks rigths to STi- go figure.
The only prodrive bits we have for the GD or GG are lowering springs (designed for the oe struts). They've (prodrive) been telling us they don't have a strut for the "new age" WRX. If they do I would much appreciate pointing me in the right direction to "see" them.
The reason I mentioned the pink bits, is STi refers to them also as their "sports" spring/struts.
Thanks

Specs are STI7;
Front
Damping rate: N @ 0,3 m/s = 807/2552
Susp.travel: mm = 85/85
Spring rate N/mm = 33
Rear
Damping rate: N @ 0,3 m/s = 612/1641
Susp.travel: mm = 110/90
Spring rate N/mm = 30,4
You are welcome

That is very interesting. The rates I posted are actually for the v7 RA (what they sell here as SPT). The RA spring rates are heavier than the v7- front 38N vs 33 and 33.4 vs 30.4 rear. What is unusal is the damping rates for the RA are slightly lower than the v7 front and slightly higher in the rear.
Interesting!
