MY01 - had original suspension on for around first 6 months from new, then Prodrive suspension since then. Tramlines a lot less now and sits better on cornering. wouldn't go back to originals. I'm running 18' Pzero Rossos. Visually it makes the car look a little meaner.

Apologies for jumping on your thread, hope you don't mind.

I also have a MY00 (Wagon) and looking for better handling. Had a drive of a P1 on the weekend for a good 50 miles and what a difference, alot firmer and nice steering too.

Does anyone now if the Prodrive pack the same as the P1 suspension or can the P1 setup be bought and fitted to a wagon? Possibly one for the Prodrive boys/girls

The P1 set up (as far as im aware) is STiV dampers with Prodrive spec'd Eibach springs to suit. The Prodrive supension package is Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs..... different kits altogether. Either would make a big improvement on a standard UK setup.... and should fit a wagon (not sure tho ).

Rasher,

As the man said, the old shape the PPP Suspension Package is the Bilstein Dampers with Prodrive spec Eibach springs (different to the P1 springs). These are pretty good but are not adjustable and for the £1200 they cost, you could get some decent adjustable coil overs which will be far better.

You pays your money and you makes your choice....

Cheers Matt,

I was just interested in peoples' experiences with this set up, good or bad as I am going to extend the warranty in April so the Prodrive way is the only way forward if I want to keep my warranty intact

Rasher,

Don't understand your logic ?? If you change the suspension to afternmarket ones like say Leda(like I did), then they're covered by their own warranty. Subaru could not try and wriggle out of a warranty claim for another aspect of the car saying "you've fitted uprated suspension" because they offer a similar kit themselves so you could easily win this arguement.

Bit like my engine going pop when I was reccommended by my dealer to fit a SS downpipe as it was a great upgrade!!

Cheers Steve, I was just wondering whether Subaru would try to wriggle out of some other claim. Say If for example I had the Leda suspension fitted and the steering rack failed or became faulty they would be able to say that if you had fitted our suspension upgrade this wouldn't have happened.
I am just trying to think of the different variables that might arise.

Nige,

Yeh, understand where your coming from. My thoughts would be that if a related component failed, then I could easily argue that whether or not this or that suspension was fitted, then it would have still failed..
Bit like fitting AP brakes and the wheel bearing failing, You could easily argue the samae would happen if the Alcons had been fitted me thinks.

Anyway, which ever you decide i'm sure you'll enjoy the improvement. Had my Ledas on for 2 years and it's a great upgrade.

I had the prodrive suspension on a MY97 for a couple of years (the car also had PPP). Still rate it as one of the best setups I've ever had.

Rasher, I've got the Prodrive Performance suspension upgrade on my UK00. It's a lot better than OEM But since I got it, Prodrive have introduced a Professional option which is slighly harder than the Performance kit, but a lot better. Apparently. This is Prodrive's claim, not mine, although I have no reason to doubt it.

But I'm not happy with my car on track days - it rolls and oversteers (got the pictures to prove it, thanks Josh!) and rather than mess about with anti-lift kits (more acturately described as More Castor Kits) or roll-bars etc I'm having Ledas fitted next week. Main reasons being a) Ledas are good, no question, b) they are easily adjustable so I can have road, track and wet-track settings changed in a couple of minutes, and c) Pete Croney (ScoobySport) knows how to set up a Scoob. Okay, so do a lot of other peeps, but I know and trust Pete.

I initially went for Prodrive as their stuff is good - as you would expect from a WR winning team. But they have to work within a tighter envelope becasue of their relationship with IM and warranty issues. After a year or more sitting on the fence (and on ScoobyNet) it's Ledas for me and ScoobySport geometry which is individually taylored to your driving style/usage.

Cheers,

Richard.

Cheers Richard,
Is this Prodrive 'professional' suspension kit available to us mere mortals through dealerships?

Cool

Got a MY00 with P1 susspension fitted, handles much much better than the OE. Especially with a strut brace on top of that
