I had a shock absorber test done on my MY97 Turbo with 48K miles on the clock and changes were indicated for one each of the shockers on both axles. The car is used only on good roads and single occupancy most of the time. Is this about par for the course or I've got a "Monday" car?

That is probably reasonable lifespan on a high performance car.. in general, the stiffer the springs, the harder your dampers will be worked.

I've replaced mine after 24k miles due to the speedhumps in my area accelerating wear.

How can I tell if my shocks are past it? I've tried to see if the car is bouncing at all by pressing down on them a few times and letting go but it seems ok.
It's a MY97 with 50K on the clock, got Eibachs fitted along with 17in Speedlines. Have had the car 6 months now and am sure the ride is getting worse as well as being noisier especially over speedhumps when it sounds like the wheels are going to go through the wings.
Thanks
Pete.

C. Pete, there are special equipment for testing the shocks. Older analog equipment drops a wheel from a jacked-up position and measures the resulting oscillation/spring action on a graph. Worn shocks will show a longer series of decreasing oscillations. This is the equivalent of pushing one corner of your car down and noting the rebound. The newer digital equipment bounces a wheel up and down and gives a digital readout of the rebound action. I got mine done at a large tyre shop, took only 5 minutes for all 4 corners.
