Just bought a Bilstein sprintline suspension kit which consists of4 struts and 4 springs.

The struts are just inserts that go inside the standard damper, but my OEM inserts are welded in and it looks like the new insert won't fit anyway.

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers

Had any luck Rich?

I know when i enquired about these i was told they are just an insert so the original struts would have to be 'drilled and modified' to fit, i asked how easy this was but all they said was 'it can be done.'

What kind of a suspension kit is that? A strut (ie. half a damper) that fits into the standard damper? Sounds strange...

What is a "sprintline" suspension kit?

All I could find on www.bilstein.de is the "B8 Sprint".

Its a damper that fits into the standard strut, i.e you take the old damper out and put the new one in. Have a look in the Demon Tweeks catalogue, you'll see the kit there.

GOOD LUCK! I've just got my money refunded after twelve months of hassle with these, sorry. For some reason mine kept blowing oil seals in them and eventually I sent the whole lot back and bought KYB.
As for the fitting, you have to cut the top off the old bodies, pull out the piston, drill a pilot hole in the bottom of the empty strut body and insert the new damper. Make sure that the brass bush they have sent you isn't hte threaded one. Its too short. I had to speak to Bilstein directly to get some new bushes. These knock into the top of the strut bodies to resist any lateral movement.

I think the AVO coilovers seems like an easier setup.

Although with the bilteins you can change the struts out for differently damped ones.

This place do coilover bodies to go with the bilstein inserts.

http://www.motorsportparts.co.uk/ but their site is down atm.

Rich,

I wouldnt fiddle around with those dampers. Instead, I would send the struts back and get 4 adjustable monotubes. But Bilstein do not make them for Subarus according to their pdf document on www.bilstein.de

Very strange, a friend of mine had uprated suspension on his WRX, and I think they were Bilstein monotubes...

Thumbs up

Cheers for the replies.

Why the f*** don't they make struts that you can just swap with your old kit?

It would be so much easier and wouldn't cost that much extra.

Apparently prodrive designed this kit for Bilstein. You'd think they'd have got it right wouldn't you??

Cheers

Guys,

Bilstein has released a new set of Springs and dampers called PSS9 and it is height and bump and rebound adjustable to 9 preset possitions. I am trying to find a place to ask their price could you please search that?
Price in Holland was about 2500 including fitting and allighnment.

Exclamation

From what I've heard about these, I wouldn't bother.

My mate had them fitted to his car and took them off a week later.

Rich,

As the suspension settings is somehow personal matter could you tell me any
details of the kit as I've been told that is superior from the Prodrive Kit made by Bilstein.
