Default Classic ARB's

Just wondering what ARB's you guys prefer to use on your classics between the 22mm and 24mm bars. Also, if you've used both, what difference does it make to the car?

Hi mate

i will be ordering a set of whiteline adjustable 22 front 22 rear.

http://www.camskill.co.uk/m10b0s2610...ic_Impreza_GC8

http://www.camskill.co.uk/m10b0s2610...ic_Impreza_GC8

from what ive read over the last few months, this is good for a road car.

track, you should be looking at the 24 front and back

Camskill reckon they will price match if you find them cheaper, however i tried to get them to price match on some springs and they said no so dont hold your breath.

I wont be able to comment on the performance though, i am sure someone will though, i would be interested my self

good luck fella

Thanks for the reply, turns out the ones I'm looking at are Cusco 21mm front and 23mm rear. Could be a decent mix for road and the odd bit of spirited driving.

21/23 should be fine

Are the Cusco bars adjustable?

I like adjustablity as it allows for tweaking, and fine tuning rotational balance to your preference, whether you like a little more rear wheel bias balance or as I do, max grip front, and then tuning the rear to to be provakeable if desired, say trail braking or lift-off oversteer

No I don't think they're adjustable. To be honest I'll not be going crazy anyway, I just want the steering and howling tyres to be addressed! I'll find out this week, I've paid for them!

You at least want the rear to be ajustable IMO, and find the setting that suits

If front and rear is not adjustable, then you find it's a bit wierd to drive then there's not much you can do to alter it.

I take it being adjustable means there's three holes in each side for the drop links to bolt to?

What issues do you have with the steering?

Your tyres shouldn't be howling Not sure changing arb's will silence them

The tyres howl like a banshee! My car under steers quite a lot but in comparison to my daily driver it's actually ok. I suppose I was expecting it to be better than it is though. Anyway, the bars are bought and are going on lol

I'm sure the bars will make a decent change

The Type R should not understeer 'quite a lot' and if anything should have a RWD bias to it.

What does the steering feel like mid corner when weighted up?

Has your car been lowered?

Sorry, I should have mentioned at the start that my car is a UK turbo.

I get a fair bit of body roll when carrying weight and no, the car isn't lowered. It's running all standard (and very old) suspension components.

I'll have to take it out for a good run and make a few notes, I haven't really paid a lot of attention to the handling to be honest. I don't drive it hard very often.

Maybe next you should look at sti struts and springs, I'm still on the black shocks with tein springs lowered 20/30 mm, handles quite well as is, standard roll bars and toys proxies 215/45/17

I've also bought STI struts with lowering springs but I might stick with the standard height. Not sure I want to lower the car at all. Am I right in thinking that some of the older STI shocks were black?

Not sure on that I though they were red (unless been painted) they're thicker, I assume mine are just standard black wrx shock same as uk2000? I'm looking into coilovers but not sure as I won't be taking car on any track so might be a bit overkill, I have a set of clean good condition uk 2000 shock in garage I was gona swap with the ones fitted to my wrx and use my tein springs, I got the black eibach springs on the uk2000 shocks, not sure if they're special ones from prodrive as my old car had the full prodrive pack

Pre V5 STi & WRX dampers were indeed black. These are the 'normal way up' arrangement

The V5/6 STi had red coloured dampers. These were an inverted or 'upside down' design (superior to blacks)

Depending on mileage your dampers may indeed need a refresh, but fitting STi springs will make for a ****tish (fairly hard) ride. I would be keeping standard height if possible

When did it last get an alignment??

I've bought shocks from a V5 Type R, sold to me as STI shocks but they are black. Who knows. I guess I'll have to wait and see what part numbers are on them and try to match them up to something. I do want to keep standard height but possibly replace the springs for new ones. Can the old dampers be spruced up a bit?? I doubt the car car has ever had an alignment done since new, I've had it a year odds and I've certainly not had it done.
