suspension advice
long story short the bottom cup on passenger side of my bug sti strut collapsed as it was rotten as i was going round a roundabout the strut rested on the tyre and there was smoke everywhere as it gouged into my tyre. luckily was about 200 yrds from the house so nursed it back slowly and parked up. got a set of front red sti struts from a breaker on here and fitted them. but now i have a clunking rotational type noise like something is loose and clattering around down there? had the wheel off a few times now but dont seem to see anything obvious? only thing i can see is the brake disc is slightly loose and clunks a bit and when i try the drivers side there is no play so do i have a fecked wheel bearing perhaps as im guessing the strut dropping onto the tyre wouldnt have been good for the bearing? another thing is bought a set of innovit redlines which supposedly clear brembos so fitted the front 2 but went for a spin round the block and the passenger side was rubbing on the brembos and there was paint scraped off but drivers side was ok so theres obvoiusly play of some sort from somewhere. gave the strut leg and shocker a good waggle and tug about and they seem to be firm enough with no obvious clunk or rattle. any insights or ideas would be good as im not keen on driving it like this.

The problem is that the noise isn't very specific, so it is hard to tell what it could be.
Did it only come after the installation of the new shock? It might be the first place to look.
