I just mean will it work as my car has no variable cam timimg? what turbo/ injectors was that with? would work on a car with the same turbo/injectors and exhaust. im guessing sti pinks and vf34? does it come with the key and barrel to get round the imobiliser?

yes it will even if it is same spec.
let me tell you a little story. My old car had an autroincs fitted so my old ecu got taken off. it had been mapped for a decat and panel filter. On my car it ran rich. Mate bought it from me and fitted it at a dyno day to his car, same model, similar age, similar miles , same mods. Opertaor terminated the run 1/4 of the way through the first pull cos it was running so lean it was gonna kill itself.
Mapping is set to specific peameters and specific constraints. no two cars have exactly the same constraints.
So you say you subaru dont map each car, they use the same map. Yep fair point, however the map is designed to take into account a wide range of manufacturing tollerance, a custom map tailors it to that engine and car. that why you get better results form mapping.
I realy dont know what your trying to do, advising poeple their cars will be fine like that is an easy way to blow their engines for them.

I have a lot of experience tuning engines, dont worry about what im up to. I just want to know if this will run on my WRX as essentially its a different engine, but I think the main problem with this ecu is going to be the imobiliser. cheers

I know ecu's have some parameters so maybe they are not individually mapped from factory,im not sure!? But I know if you even change a back box, then you should really have it mapped. As for it coming from a variable valve sti,I very much doubt it'll work with the wrx engine

Due to the AVCS and the different looms on the uk cars vs the Jdm I think the ecu is only really suited to a Jdm sti. To fit the ecu to any other model would
involve too much work IMHO. However your more than welcome to buy it and fit it to whatever you like.
