I bought these off 2 different subaru breakers last year as i had a dent in mine but never got round to replacing it. They were both advertised as sti alloy light weight boot lids. I paid quite a bit for them.

Lol name and shame the 'specialist' because no one in the Subaru community has ever come across an alloy bootlid, was a myth.
As above get a magnet on it!
Some jdm impreza models got an alloy bonnet but that's all.

If that is the case then i will take your word for it. Looks like i've been sold a item not as described . I will try and find out the 2 breakers that i bought them from and report them to ebay or though it might be a bit late now as it was a year ago! Typical fleebay nothings ever as it is described!! At least they are in good condition though i will give them that.

I've just found this one for an example, it says in the description "Lightweight sti version" so maybe there are an odd few out there? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...#ht_796wt_1163

If this is the case then im not sure why so many people out there have mentioned alloy boot lids and so many people including specialist breakers are selling them on ebay? Im not trying to cause an argument or anything, im just trying to find out the facts as i would be quite fecked off if i find out these are not alloy as i paid quite a bit extra for them!

Oh dear Greg,I feel I need to jog your memory regarding these 'alloy' boot lids, you purchased one of these off Collin@ ignition motorsports while he repair your car after the roundabout incident??!!
Far be it me to side with members 'miss selling' items that are not what they are ,don't forget Greg you were banned on another site for doing just the same
Take heed Greg,as I would hate you to fall foul of that on here, doing what 2 people have already told you to do with a magnet is a sure fire way of testing these!
Rember people have good memorys and listening is a good idea !
Thanks all ,rant over!

The confusion could be down to translation from the jap brochures....there was an option of a alluminium boot spoiler on earlier wrx, similar design to the UK my 99 version but a bit higher .... And also the hideous s201 rear spoiler was alluminium.
The magnet never lies...
