On a 2.5? probably 350/370bhp - 390-420lb/ft with supporting mods.
It made just shy 340 on v-power in my old 2.0 sti v4 with 95k miles on a conservative dyno, amazing spool 1bar at 2800rpm on a 2.0!
Think of it as newer equivilant to a vf34 with smoother power characteristics and slightly better top end, these go great on 2.5's

What sort of power would this make over my standard turbo on a 03 blob Sti. I shall have 3" exhaust with no cats, pump, intake and remap.

Cheers,
Melly

Difficult to say, every turbo is different, this will max out at around 370/380bhp with supporting mods, however this will spool slightly earlier, have a smoother power curve, and a better midrange than your vf35

its definitely an upgrade

Avoid going complete 3" at the power level mate, you will lose early spool up. Go for a 3" bell mouth that reduces to 2.5" this way you will get the best of both worlds. This turbo will make 340 if your engine is in good health possibly 350

Just to add this is a cracking turbo that delivers power much more smoother and linear than previous VF units. I payed close to 600 for my old one so this is well priced too

Have a VF48 fitted to my 06 Hawk 2.5 WRX. Made 340/380 and great turbo on the 2.5 engine. Very well suited.

Agreed, I have 2.5” system, no point going 3” until over 400bhp.

Thanks for the input chaps. Think I will just go with my original plan and get an sc40 and injectors to reach my 400+ goal, hence the 3" exhaust.

Good luck with the sale David.

Cheers,
Melly

Will that not be a bit overkill to reach 400bhp. I was under the impression that an SC46 would be a bit laggy on a 2L engine and the SC40 would be more suited. The 46 is only £300 more so if its the better choice id buy that instead. Sorry to ask unrelated questions on your forsale post Dave.

Cheers,
Melly

No worries, not to sure, don't have experience of either turbo, if I had the money for it..
I would go md321t billet, but it's maybe a bit borderline reliability circa 420/440 odd on V-power with std internals

Generally as a rule of thumb you want the smallest turbo possible to achieve your power level. So if the SC40 can achieve 400bhp I would go for that. The bigger the turbo the bigger the lag. You dont want to under run a large turbo as it will not make for a nice car to drive.
