After having a custom 4" H&S exhaust system made for my STI I had an issue where the larger exhaust tips were melting my bumper, I found this product from an aerospace company that also supplies to the Motorsport industry.

It is a weave of carbon fibre and volcanic particles that not only insulates bodywork from heat it also reflects any heat away from your bodywork, protects way above 100 degrees so perfect for rear bumpers etc, it also has a sticky back for ease of fitment.
