Right guys. new price as the car has an issue on it. 5300 for it.

its dropping compression with worn rings which have been quoted 1400 to replace by pp plus 300 off for the hassle of it. car still starts and drives just pushing alot of oil through the breather due to the pressure past the rings. if anyone knows anyone please point them this way!

I am mate. only mapped 2 weeks ago but looks like might have been running low compression for a while which is why it was smokey when first started. gutted but massivly angry too.

Worn rings on it are the problem. car runs and boosts fine just when you check get low pressure than it should. I've been told its normal wear and tear on some engines.

Its stupid with the power it makes and way it delivers it you'd never know there was a problem. even more stupid us all the common failures. cracked piston. rod failures or crank failures are all expected and well known but hey hoe.

fair play to you for being honest, i bought an 04 sti which was running what i thought was perfectly, had a random compression test done on a service and had 35 psi on cylinder 3!! worn valve seats, didnt even know as it drove perfectly fine and boosted fine!

yeah its strange, listening to it or even driving it you'd never know, compression was only checked because oil hitting the catch can was coming back through the vent on it as it was that pressured. I could have stayed quiet and sold the car saying it was fine but its not my way of doing things.

As i hope so mate, i worked out what i can strip it for which is more but that takes time and i'd need to sort a unit.

Fud it was mapped by Andy Carr, but like i said, you'd never know driving it or listening to it.
