MY93 WRX RA in Feather White

MY93 WRX RA in Feather White
If you are in the market for one of these, you probably know what you are looking for: the original GC8 RA and the lightest Impreza ever made. Detailed specs may be found here. The car is one of the earliest examples listed on the Type-RA.com registry.
There are very few examples of this model left in good, original condition. My car was imported in December 2000 and its first UK owner kept the car for 12 years before selling it on to its next owner who kept it nine months before selling it to me in October 2012. The car’s condition is a credit to its owners. Every receipt since import is contained in a very thorough history file.
I purchased the vehicle already fitted with the following non-standard equipment: mid-level boot spoiler, four-pots, Goodridge braided brake hoses, dash-mounted turbo gauge and a Clifford Concept 650 mk2 alarm (with two fobs and keys). The car also benefits from factory A/C and a standard decat exhaust (being a 1993 car a cat is not required for MoT).
In the 22 months I’ve owned this car, I’ve covered 8,400 miles and have always ensured it has had everything it needed, including:
- New Exedy 230mm Blue Box clutch
- Replacement gearbox (2nd gear synchro was on its way out on the original ‘box so I sourced a perfect TY752VB3DA transmission from a MY94 WRX RA (with the exact same super-low ratios as the MY93 box)
- New gear linkage bushes and gearbox oil
- New KYB Excel-G shock absorbers all round
- Whiteline anti-lift kit
- Eibach rear camber bolts and fast-road geometry
- Newage coil pack mod
- New cam belt and rocker cover gaskets
- New NGK PFR7B plugs
- Walbro 255 fuel pump
- New air and oil filters x2
- Oil last changed 600 miles ago using Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 10w50 fully synthetic
- Coolant change
- Replacement power steering pump
- Replacement up pipe (H+S)
- New radiator and intercooler hoses
- New clutch slave cylinder
- Brake and clutch fluid renewed last month with ATE Super Blue
All work was conducted by Richard at FB Tuning except for oil and brake fluid changes which were done by myself. Naturally the car has only ever been run in my ownership on either V-Power or Momentum fuel.
There are stone chips on the bonnet and the paint has cracked on the rear bumper with a small patch flaked off as shown in the photos. Other than these flaws, the bodywork is in good order. Both rear arches were done with fresh metal this year at Finishline in Hitchin so should be good to go for many years.
The car is MOT’ed until November 2014 and taxed until October. It is showing 193,500 km or 120,200 miles (the odometer has never been converted to MPH).
The car is offered with a choice of wheels: either 16” Speedline Preo-R’s shod with 205/50/16 Toyo R1-Rs (not to be confused with the lesser T1-Rs) and freshly refurbished in anthracite, or 17” Rota GRAs with 205/40/17 Yokohama Parada Spec 2s in gold (one of the few 17” rims to fit over Brembos, although this car has the Subaru four-pots).
This car has had the essential maintenance and sympathetic refinements done to future-proof it for many years to come. I’ve acquired a MY99 WRX RA which is now the focus of my attention, hence am putting my other RA on the market where I hope it will attract a buyer looking for a turnkey, original car and who will continue to cherish it.
Priced at £3,495. I’m not looking for swaps or part-exchanges, thank you.
I’m located in Herts, near J9 of the M1. Please feel free to contact me via the forum, by email at plentyforums@gmail.com, or by phone at 07920 244 355.
