Its gets a lot of attention on pretty much every car forum im on. Lots of people giving it a go themselves. Some screw it up while others get it spot on.
I say go for it. I would do it my self though

I plastidip'd my dash at the weekend and it looks f'ing great. But it was also dead easy, not sure I would pay anyone to do it for me or that there would be any money in it for them.

I also have the red blaze colour plastidip, that is much more inconsistent to apply.

Thanks for the answers so far, this is really
to gauge wether there is a viable/profitable
business in it.

Keep the answers coming, as an aside there
is no-one where I live that offers this as
a service.

If your looking to make it in to a business there would definately be a avenue for whole cars or maybe alloys done to a high standard.Jen.

From a business point of view i'd say go for it, at the end of the day what have you got to loose? Say it doesnt take off, at least you can look back and know you gave it ago and if it does take off you'll have a good business to build from. We all have to start somewhere mate this is exactly how I got started with mine

My idea was to start small offering dipping via local
forums to build experience. I must admit it seems the
biggest outlay is the dip itself as it seems we have to
pay nearly 4 times what it costs in the states.

I haven't got that far yet but from looking at a
few sites that offer it prices seem to start at
£300-400 for a mini sized car.

I am thinking initially dipping wheels is maybe
the way to start and go from there.

Guy near me in Southampton does it, started/practiced on his cars. He did a purple Subaru that was a feature car on pistonheads.
If you advertise / put yourself out there im sure you can build up a good name then can't see why it wouldn't work for you.
Go got it mate.

It's pretty good stuff; I've bought my own gun so will be doing all my own stuff. So far I've been pretty successful, just waiting for a decent day to get my next lot done

Whereabouts are you mate? Would love to get some stuff plastidipped, but I'm useless with it. Nothing exciting like alloy wheels or the whole car, mind.

It's definitely a cost effective way of painting and enhancing a cars look. The best thing is its not permenant because let's say you dont like the way it came out you can always peel it off and won't hurt the cars value IMO.

Not alot of difference really, they are both a secondary coating over the existing coating but where one would go on a a wrap over full sections/panels the other is sprayed on like a paint. both can be peeled off when needed leaving the existing coating untouched.
