Default de-tango and carbon side markers

Decided to detango the bug. Wanted carbon side makers to compliment the clear indicators but they are very pricey. So, with a bit of 3M carbon wrap and the orginal side markers, I did a homemade carbon effect side marker. End results are very good - well chuffed.

Now let's see if it falls off in these high temps!

No air bubbles in this piece of high quality bodgery!

I took my time, trimmed carefully and applied heat from the wife's hairdryer to within an inch of its life. The ridge you can see is a raised area of plastic on the original side marker. What you could do to get rid of any ridges (there are others too) is sand it all down prior to wrapping. I was nervous about doing this because if the wrap went wrong I needed functioning side markers at the end of it. If the wrap lasts and I'm happy with it then I may well buy a very cheap amber set and re-wrap to eliminate all ridges, but that would be being a bit ****, as from a reasonable disatance you cannot see any faults at all.

Their main function appears to be to fill a similarly, and inconveniently, sized hole in the side of the wing. There are many cars that seem to do without them at all. How do these cars cope?

Certain countrys have to have amber lights on the side of the vehicle. It was cheaper for Subaru to put orange blanks in than make different wings.

Got mine from:

I went for the 30x60 piece - plenty of room for a second or even a third try if you muck it up.
