Question mesh...

...I need to get hold of some stainless mesh to protect my fmic, preferably in black. Nowhere I look seems to do anything that matches the mesh from my Jun grill though, there are some pics on my project thread but photobucket is blocked so will have to add a pic tonight.

Any suggestions?

the mesh i have been using and found good is a string type that has been covered by like a powder coat. it is very srtong, and wont go out of shape from stones etc and can be glooed into place.

it is from rgm

Look on ebay - you can buy the stainless woven mesh on there - just spray it black.

Fit mesh by all means if it is for asthetic reasons but in all the time I have been involved with Hybrid intercoolers I have only come across one core that was damaged from road debris and in that case no matter what mesh you had it would not save the core which was actually twisted from the impact.

mesh just makes the front mount look neater. my mesh is really thin from a distance you dont even know its there, only when your up close. saved mine from having any bent fins etc. hate the look of front mounts with bent fins on show.

+1 Harvey's comment. In 4 years usingh an "exposed" Hyperflow FMIC, I didn't have any damage.

Also check % air flow reduction for the mesh. Some are 50% reduction which defeats the point of having a FMIC !!

Wow, blast from the past: hello Stan
One of the reasons I'm going for the twisted stainless is it has large how sizes vs relativly narrow gauge wire so minimal flow interruption. Some of the mesh looks extremely restrictive, particularly the pressed rather than woven variants.

Hi Ian,
Looking at your car spec I think you need to do a few mods to make it less standard
Good choice on the 2.35
