Default Spats. To spray or not to spray

Hi own a MY98 sti classic in silver and it has spats on it. I like the way it looks but also i like the look of the spats colour coded.

Im taking in my car in strat of january for a bumper spray and this is my chance to get them sprayed if i want them but cant seem to make my mind up. I like both the black spats and the colour coded ones.

What would you guys do, colourcode or leave it?

4 people quoted on the question. 2 said yes and 2 said no. Hmmmm makes it a hard choice. Very hard to choose what to go for.

Colour code mate, cleans it up and gives it the finished look - who wants black plastic on their car? Especially on silver

I had my silver classics skirts and spats done - what a huge improvement. Get it done!

Colour coded LOOKS nice, ............for a while.

THEN you start having to touch them up after stones chip them. I'd leave them.

My skirts are silver as long with the hockey sticks for the rear bumper. Cars going in the body shop soon this month so really should make my mind up. Also it are kind of a hard plastic/rubber material, will they go crap and look tatty after a little while. Stone chips etc.

I know they will be sprayed professionally as my friend goes insurance jobs too so this standard are really high. Just abit worried incase they don't look right or the paint work cracks after a while.

Paint will defo crack after a while

Clips cost about £20 to replace both sides when you refit. Best thing to do is to degrease the plastic and then use a polywax like Black wow to build up a deeper gray/black over time

Clips? Didn't know they used clips for fitting the spats on. Mine are on with some string adhesive, maybe tigerseal. I had to have a hairdryer to it to take them off. Clips it is then to put them on properly.

Do you remember the part number for the clips?
