Sorry for the hijack, but do you need to prime VHT paint on inlets and intercooler pipes

That's what I was expecting but as PDR is a painter by trade I thought I'd use the opportunity to hijack.

As long as the prep is good the age of the parts shouldn't matter

100% right Jon its all in the prep work really and obviously the better quality materials the better to but without good prep your fighting a loosing battle imho which always leads to either shody finish or flaking

Using only VHT was still good, as in it did not wrinkle. So i would imagine with the prep, primer etc it will only be better and more tough finish.

As we've discussed, I have that problem with flaking lacquer from a previous shoddy repair

Waiting for the weather to improve so I can continue prepping the car, although I'm on a temporary hold while my finger heals after I put a stanley knife through it

Need to stop spending too otherwise I'll have nothing left to pay for my respray

Trimming the bumper ready for meshing in front of the intercooler and I slipped, blade went straight through my finger beside the nail, but it was still attached, just. Will leave a cracking scar, especially as I was too busy to get to A&E for a stitch or 2, luckily I've done some combat medic training

Luckily it was a new blade so a straight cut and not a rip

Ouch,i have one similar to that which has left a nike type tick scar in my finger
Always shocks me how easy a fresh blade can slice skin but have to say it doesn't hurt to much as it happens so quick

I have several scars from stanley knives, also have a cracking one from a 2-tonne door when it closed on my finger

I always use a sharp blade as it is less painful, although it does smart if I catch it now

Do you think normal paint on the rocker covers will cope?

Thanks mate alot of time/effort and money gone into it
To be honest it would depend on how well the VHT has stuck,if your confident on its durability then just key it and paint on top but if there are any patches abit iffy then just strip back and start over mate.
