'Q' for the bodywork experts!
I've had some fibre glass parts in the past fitted to my scoob over the years and have noticed that they all have had bubbles appear under the paint, what causes this and how can I stop it happening to my new project parts?
Thanks

Did you get them all painted at the same time/place?
Sounds like some possible contamination in the paint or minor de-lamination of the parts. I'm sure someone with more info than me will be along soon

its been over the years Jon, different places. I just don't want the same thing happening again as I will have a fair bit of painting needing done.
Thanks

Paul. The bubbles will be air pockets in the actual fibreglass itself between the outer gel coat and the fibre matting underneath.
When they were painted and fitted they probably looked ok, but as time goes by and the parts have been heated by the sun the air expands a d causes the bubbles.
Try pushing them with your finger and they will crack and the air pocket will be seen.
The only correction is to grind them out, fill and paint unfortunately.
