Default Fitting facelift grille

i`ve got a 1996 prefacelift that i`ve fitted facelift lights to, today my grille arrived, it fitted on no problem but now i cant get the bonnet to shut, anyone know why or what i have to alter to make it fit (and i dont want a facelift bonnet)

Thanks,
Andy

Just comparing my front to yours, it would seem (without a pic this is a stab in the dark!) that the centre of the grill is higher than the shut line on the non-facelift bonnet. Looks like it will need trimming pretty much along its length to get it low enough so that the bonnet will shut! A picture of the grill and bonnet together would help matters though!

I had my facelift grill on with the pre facelift bonnet, the bonnet needed a good slam to shut! I didn't cut anything,as was going to(and have)fit a facelift bonnet.
The grill i have is the flush one,not the later one that sticks out over the bumper. See my profile.
Are you sure the rubber stops are adjusted right?

i didnt try slamming it hard i was worried i wouldnt be able to open it again, the grille does seem to fit really well it just the catch wont quite click shut, my bonnet seems to sit slightly high at the front edge ayway think it needs adjusting somehow

and i know what you mean about not wanting to cut it and i bought mine brand new!

It was a little bit of a pain to open again,it poped open ok,but trying to unhook the latch needed a little finger!

I've just fitted all the facelift parts to my 94 impreza. I loosened the bolts off on the latch behind the grille, moved it up as much as it would go, then when installing the grille, I found that the lever for the bonnet needed to be fed into the pre cut cap on top of the grille.

Finall got it fitted! turns out i hadnt pushed the grille far enough back towards the enigne bay and when i did the little tabs locked into the headlights and a harder than usual slam saw it shut

Mit i see what you mean about needing a little finger to open it again, my little finger was the only one i could get in the gap lol

i was going to leave it all black but i dont think it looks right

Thanks for your help

it a tricky one, i'd like to try a white one before i commit to paint.even better, get a white one too, then you can have whichever the mood suits!

Looks good. Think I would personally do the outside edge in white, there will be enough black left with the mesh to tie in with your black lights
