Question Angel lights or not?

Hi all

Not sure if this thread is in the right place ot not.

What are your opinions on Angel lights (quad lights) for my M reg scooby import.

I am getting my car on Weds hopfully, and the dealer I have bought the car off has offered to fit a bigger spoiler (for an extra 200 quid) not sure what type, and has offered to fit angel lights for an extra 400 quid plus vat.

I seem to have spent a fourtune already (don't mind once I have the car), getting a better alarm fitted, extended warranty etc.

I am unsure what to do as its taking long enough to get my car at the moment (having sva and mot done).

Any opinions would help me make my mind up.

Thanks

Clare

400 is alot for angel eyes, you can get them on Ebay for £150-199 without painting, my freind had a set and i dont think they are all that, if you want quads, go for morettes, In my opinion. PS How much did you pay for the car and what model is it?

Hi

the 400 quid is for fitting etc as well.

Its a wrx import :

I payed 8k for the car then extra 400 for alarm and extend warranty.

I think i am paying over the odds to start with.

Cheers hun thats not inc vat.

I am getting worried about what i have just bought to be honest. It has been mooded and we didnt get a spec on whats what with the car. It has a blue box on the pass side of the dash wich app is a tweaker for the exhust.

Me being blond and female and have very limited knowlege left it up to my hubby to sort out and buy.

I think they saw us coming.

my suggestion to you would be goto www.scoobyclinic.co.uk and talk to them, get ythe car into their workshop and let them have a look at it for you, they will tell you exactly what it is you have and will sort everything you need as well. ask to speak to kev or adam, there both very good!! have fun in it it looks very nice! are you going to the nbo?

Once you get the car all the doubt about whether or not you should have gone for it will fade away....... nearly as fast as the speedo will be chasing the rev counter!!

Seriously though, I have never heard of a blue box that will "tweak" the exhaust for sound, power or anything. To a non-tech head like myself it sounds like some sort of boost controller, turbo timer add-on.

Best thing you can do once you take delivery of the car is to go to a reputable Scooby Specialist in your area and get them to give it a proper look over and health check. You can find out who is best in your area by posting something in the Area Sections at the bottom of the board.

As for the Angel Eyes, dont get them from the Import Garage.. Find them in the For Sale Section, or E-Bay etc as you will save yourself money.

Cheers,
Grant

cheers all for you advice, i know once i get the car i will be pleased as long at its ok, i just cant wait to get it and then i will most certaily try and get about in it i maybe meet a few peeps off here would be good.

Oh and if i get the car on wed or thurs would be great as it my dbay on thurs so i will have a new car to pose in for my birthday .

And i think i will leave the dealers offers to add more to the car well alone, every time we go they offer more and more.

I have a set of Angel eyes on my MY98. I have had loads of problems with the halos blowing. Water gets into the tube and pop goes a halo. You have to drill a couple of holes in the bottom to let the water out. Though my supplier has been very patient and supplied me with replacements. He has now given me the latest upgraded set which has silver backs that have removable halos. These also have rubber bungs where the wires fix to the halos. You will also need to upgrade the lamps to some Ultra bright types as they make a massive difference. Also the halo lights are not the brighest and you can really only see them at night and not dusk when you need them as side lights. A mate borrowed the car and drove round with the halos and fogs on and they looked great untilhe was pulled by the cops .

I would of gone for the Morettes but at the time they were nearly £100 more.

I have sprayed my front side lights and the actual plastic lamp holder and they look great IMHO.

At the end of the day they are far better than the standard items but for that sort of money go for a set of Morettes. £265 a pair here

PM or email me if you want any pics.

Cheers

Neal

i've got some, but only cause of weight saving & price, think mine were 65 quid

build quality is poo and i've not had the pleasure of driving in the dark with them yet either make sure they are for a right hand drive car too, mine weren't and failed the MOT on the beam pattern (sorted now by taking them apart and flipping the deflector inside)

Once you have it if you get along the the TTS meet in chester-le-street there are a host of experts who will tell you whats been done to it and what you can consider doing to make it better.... and that advise and help is free....

Also there will be a few to help at the NBO if you get over.

Once you get it the Grin on your face will say it all...

Exclamation Over excited japanese car suppliers ahoy!!

Hi folks,

interesting views on Angel eyes. I also have purchased an impreza from the land of Japan (i.e. Direct purchase)
Mine is stuck in a container halfway across the world.
I have got a Impreza WRX STI v2 - Type RA.....1996 - £7000otr.
Sounds like your supplier is a bit off with his figures. First things first, have you seen the japanese data sheet that comes with the car at the auction.
Mine was grade 4. that means it top notch for its age.

As for the Moretttes, i have found them cheaper on the web, here
Give me a shout if you get the data sheet. I can translate it for you (kinda)

Cheers.
