I have been advised by my dealer that it might be worth having my new pride and joy polished/treated with an Autoglym 'lifeshine' treatment, it apparently adds an extra hard polish to the car and also does a scotchguard type effect to the interior (supposedly guaranteed not to mark) for the princely sum of £190.00, has anyone out there heard of this treatment, is it worth it ?
If its an Autoglym product it should be good.
I know with some other car treatments that do the interior ,if your seat etc gets stained the company will replace it as part of the warranty.
Suppose it all boils down to if you enjoy polishing your car ,if you do then put the money into some good polish (Swissol or Zymol).
Other thing is you would need to wash the car with that Autoglym recommend so you don't remove the treatment

Only bother having the interior done mate.£190 sounds quite cheep, a lot of these dealers try to charge £300+ for diamondbrite and the like, total rip off. Only have it done if you plan to never wash your car between now and when you sell it.These products tend to cost about £30 to buy and that will be enough to do many cars. These products tend to be sold by baffling with bull****. A smear of these waxes will offer no extra protection to the cars paintwork against the things you want to protect against, scratches and chips, and unless your washing routine involves brillo pads and gravel covered sponges normal hand wash and leather is plenty good enogh to keep your scoob looking mint.If your considering spending that sort of money on car care products then the best thing you can do for your cars paintwork is to invest in Swissol products, worth every penny. The shield wax with added teflon helps stop the flies sticking to the boxy front end and makes summer time car cleaning so much easier,
hope this helps, cheers Simon

WVM is right
Its one of the biggest rip offs on new cars.
A friend of mine bought a new astra gsi last year and the salesman wanted £220 for the same sort of treatment. Luckily we knew one of the guys who works in the bodyshop there and he told us it costs about £25
go to your local car care place and get a shed load of Meguiers or Swissol
or give me £190 and I'll do your car now , and again in another 6 months

For less than that, you could get Mark Underwood (the Wax Wizard) to come up and personally do your car. It will take him all day, but the results are amazing (even on new cars). At least you'll know that your car has started out with a good polish, properly applied. All you've got to do is then follow Mark's instructions to maintain it.
Failing that, put it towards the cost of some Armourfend fot the front of the car - stonechips will always be a problem and I would suspect that this will do more to protect your car than £190 spent at you dealer for an Autoglym product.
