lexus style lights - misting up
#1
Fitted a nice set off lexus style lights to the car last night ( in the garage ) !! well chuffed with them !! only problem is that I noticed that one side was slightly misted up today when I looked, now there has been no rain, plenty off snow though !! has it just happened because off the severe weather we have ?? is there a quick cure ??
any advice would be appreciatted,
cheers,
john

Hi John,
Had the same problem with mine back in the summer last year (no rain back then it only happened after washing the car)
Is it the near side tat is misting up, if it is Paul at TSL says it is because the water pipe from roof gutter etc runs down the C pillar in this corner. I still dont think it should happen though and am just about to send mine back. Did you notice he did not keep his lights on the 22B for long. I wonder if he had the same probs.
Ralph.

I've got Lexus style lights on my NewAge from TSL as well and have noticed this symptom in slight form in the past.
I guess this might be one of the reasons that none of the Ultra Custom lights are e-approved?

The best bet is to use some additional sealer
I sealed mine with some plastecine type air conditioning joint stuff (it comes on a reel & is light grey !)
& touch wood no problem at all !

milo --> sorry but whoever told you they were e-approved was either a muppet or a liar, plan and simple. All reputable companies which sell these lights are making it clear on their websites and in their catalogues.....
sorry mate

from tsl's site: "These are a fully E-MARKED PRODUCT. Guaranteeing no hassles come MOT time"
from dcp's site: "All lights are E' marked unlesss stated otherwise and can be used on UK roads and will also pass a UK MOT" (and the lexus ones aren't stated otherwise)
are they both lying to us or am i missing something?

i've had my lexus on for 8 months now and only just noticed a slight misting at the sides after i washed the car.
my ligts were not 'e' marked but i just went through the last service and 1st mot 2 weeks ago no problem ....but a rear bulb had gone, then when i washed the car i saw the misting
think i might phone the shop now

i got lexaus lights too, mine are fully e aprroved and no probs with them misting if you read the little leaflet
<most people are saying what leaflet i just took the lights out and fitted them lol>
then you would see that the people who make them cover themselfs by saying
"due to the construction blar blar blar and the type of surface blar blar blar this MAY cause a misting during certain weather conditions"
so good luck if your gunna try getting your money back

So whats the deal with the e-approval? Had my lexus lights delivered last week and fitted them shortly after. Paul from TSL said there would be no problens at all come MOT time??? Should I expect problems when the MOT is next due?

There's 2 main suppliers of Lexus style lights.
ABCDesign which have the 3 round lights - these are e-marked.
and
Ultra Auto Lighting which have the 2 round lights. These are not e-marked, but their brochure states that they will pass an MOT.

Ive just fitted mine about a month ago. No misting up as yet but I would imagine they will do at some point.
.
Remember guys this isnt only a problem with aftermarket parts.
A lot of o/e headlights have this problem too. And they're fitted by the manufacturer.
