Unfortuantely they do not comply with the law. There's a bit on the DVLA website about self-adhesive registration plates.
Basically it comes down to the backing not being reflective in the right way as much as anything else...
Rich.

Mate of mine has got one on, it is exactly the same as the normal plate but without the acrylic backing plate and clear front bit. It is the legal size etc and reflective backing.
Cannot tell the difference if I compare it with a normal plate at night. Never had any problems with the local police or MOT either. Think they are more hot on the size of the plate and the lettering.

yeah mate if its the correct size and font you will more than likely be ok, its when you make them italic and start fidling with the spacing you get shafted for it.

I had a stick on number plate until I recently went through a police check point.
There pulled me and told me that the number plate was illegal(even though it was correct, size and spacing) because it was at an angle and could not be read by the new cameras that reckonise the number plates automatically.
I had 14 days to replace it with one that was vertical, and had to have this checked by a MOT station.
