Swissol had a group buy on here recently, do a search it may still be on!

Halfords now do sell Zymol but the swissol stuff is perhaps better but def easier to use. Both may seem expensive but last a very long time and work out cheap in the long run plus no chalky lines and you can get it on the black bits and leave no white marks.

Autosol you can get from Halfords too.

I'm a cheapskate, so I use Autoglym resin polish, followed by autoglym extra gloss protection on mine. Swissol may be the best thing since sliced bread, but I'm perfectly happy with the autoglym stuff - using the extra gloss stuff gets rid of any swirl marks on the paint, and the finish is extremely 'shiny'

And you can pick it up from any good motor factors, or Halfords if you insist

I use turtle wax premium car wash and then turtle wax all purpose polish, seems to work but i've seen some of the results of the more expensive stuff so i'm gonna get some

Nearly out of turtle polish so I think I'll pop down to Halfords now and get some Autoglym for the time being

Having previously used autoglym products, now I have used some other products I would never use autoglym again.

Swissol products are amazing borrowed some off a mate for the first polish. Looking at his MGC swissol is the best money can buy.

I bought some products for my pug as well which gives excellent results, deep shine, water beads dirt falls off ect ect but it is a 10th of the price of swissol similiar price to the autoglym range. Does need a bit of elbow grease to get desired effects but well worth it. I polished and waxed the pug 2 weeks ago and will be doing a general clean today so I will post the results.

this product is called dr ok wak A1 motor range you can buy it from here

http://www.iauto.co.uk

I bought the following
Speed cleaner you use this before the polish and wax.
Speed polish
speed wax plus 10 (for the price this is excellent)
Speed clean and wax you use this to clean the car after the wax treatment.

The whole work took about 3 hours with a drying break in between.

I can recomend getting a drying blade and lots of old towels, use the towels to wash and dry the car, when you are finished chuck them into the washing machine.

Dont use sponges as these will fill up with dirt particals and damage the paintwork. using chamois leathers will damage your wax treatment.

i think this cost less than £40. The test of time will be the factor. The car shined like it never has done before but if it only lasts for the initial treatment then it isnt so good. as you want it to shine after each normal wash for a few months.

Will post the long term results.

cheers

Peter

I used to swear by autoglym until I got some Meguiars (bought online from http://www.meguiars.com/)

I used the 3 stage deep crystal cleaner (cleaner, polish, wax) on my black FTO after washing with the pink goo and I've never seen it so shiny. A few days ago I went back, gave it another wash and used the gold class wax. The stuff is amazing!

I spent 5 hours yesterday giving the scoob the full treatment (including wheels and autosoling the zorst ) and she looks beautiful. The paint is so smooth, no nasty white bits like autoglym used to leave, just a very beautiful shiny car

[Edited to say]

I've no doubt swissol is the best stuff you can possibly use, but I suspect it's a bit of diminishing returns. Meguiars gives me the show car finish I've always wanted and doesn't cost me my arms or legs. Which is good, cos the scoobies petrol habit does that

OK, I'm converted, I went to Halfords and went to pick up a bottle of autoglym but then saw the Zymol calling me! So off I trundled and picked a bottle up!!!

I've literally just spent an hour washing with Turtle Wax Premium car shampoo and the car looking stunning, then I broke out the Zymol, it goes on without a fuss, you dont need much, then you use a clean cloth to wipe off any residue, it actually feels like you're adding to the car rather than just working away at the paint to get a shine, its sooo easy!! I spent less than an hour on the spoiler, roof and bonnet and can already see how great it looks, gonna go take a pic, brb

I'm no good with the camera, cant illustrate the shine I achieved

Its shiny anyway, i'm well impressed!

BTW, is it just me or does anyone else think that Zymol smells good enough to eat?

Zymol is a lot cheaper than using Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection. Plus its a lot easier to use.

Well!

I went down halfords and bought:
 • Zymol
 • Autosol
 • Wheel cleaner
 • tyre cleaner
 • loads of cloths, etc
..and I still have not finished ...must be at least 6 hours I have been at it - worst thing is all I am doing is highlighting the imperfections that were previously hidden by the dirt

Oh well, will get some pictures up...if I have finished before it gets dark.

Cheers, Jon

Ps. UHF - looking good all that in only one hour? what's your secret!!!

The secret is that the car has been washed once a week religously and polished with turtle wax for the last 3 weeks once a week.

It was very shiny even after just a wash, and the zymol wax goes on easy and then comes off easy, if you dont put much on then you dont have much to do with the clean cloth!

I'm sure it could be better and the fact that its silver helps as it reflects very easy!

I just use a gallon tub of that turtle wax premium car shampoo, it has wax in it too.

BTW, doesnt the zymol smell nice, i've washed my hands several times and just taken a shower and I can still smell it! Maybe its the cloths in my room!

Santa Pod sounds cool - would not mind having a go at a track day soon.

Tomorrow is the Cumbrian Scoobs monthly Sunday outing...I believe we are all going out to play in the Yorkshire Dales? but no-one has released the route yet...

'least the weather is going to be

I used to use Turtle Wax, but bought a bottle of Zymol from Halfords last week. This stuff is amazing. Much better than the Turtle wax. Never used Swissol kit, but I'd recommend Zymol. Nice smell, too.
