Question

So, having just picked up my spanking new MY02 WRX, what should I be using to keep it looking this way?! The dealer was using green paint-match wax. Or should I use Autoglym? or what?!

Don't use Autoglym (not that theres anything wrong with it) but I would reccomend a proper wax, I and many others on here use wax wizard, but I think Marks stopped doing it now, but he does something very similar, not cheap but bl**dy good.
Try doing a search for Wax Wizard.

Use the Swissol/Swizol products, they are the best (but also rather expensive)

Results from using it on my new car

Swissol is what mr 'Wax Wizard' now sells, instead of his own blend of waxes, pretty good then!

Yup, 4 hours of elbow grease. I got the Samurai starter kit (you can get this from Scoobyworld). It's got the special Subaru wax. The kit comes with Car Bath, Pre-Wax cleansing fluid, the wax and tyre spray - also has the towels and applicator for the wax and pre-wax. I also invested in the water blade to help get the water off the car quickly so as to help it dry quicker.

The hardest part was doing the pre-wax cleaning - it took ages but it's part of the deal and you only have to do it a couple of times a year. Second time I washed the car, the dirt just fell off with little effort from me and I only needed about an hour and a half to do the wash and wax.

If this foul weather over here would clear up for just a day I'd be out with the Swissol gear again - my golds are more like black these days with brake dust !

I highly recommend this stuff and the shine is even better than the pics suggest. Oh, and I don't have any commercial interest, just a happy customer.

Wink

Brought two bottles of Meguires back from the USA 2 weeks ago, $9 each from Walmart (thats about £6 to you), before this I've always used Autoglym but the Meguires (Gold coat) is better, gives a much deeper shine and smells nice too.
You can buy it over here, but expect to pay about £14. Worth the money IMHO..

Edcase - Good to see you placed the order !

Tell you what - if you aren't stunned with the results, I'll buy the kit off you - it's good for 40 waxings so mine should last me for a year or so and I'll need more after that

Please let us know how you get on and if possible, post some pics - there's nothing better than a highly polished scooby
