Ive just noticed that someone has kindly scuffed my rear bumper shaving off some of the paint. I have had a problem with paint blisters on the bumper before and it cost me £250 to get that sorted so this time I fancy doing it myself. Can anyone give me any tips on the best way to go about this, for example the best way to rub the area down and the best way to respray
Many thanks

I would say its worth a go, paint will only cost you about £15-£20.
You already have a good base to get the paint to stick to, so you can get away with using cellulose paint instead of 2pac,therefor no baking is required. You will need a spray gun and compressor, no way you can do an area this big with cans. Rub the whole lot down with 1200 grade wet and dry (use lots of water) just enough to remove the shine, and the scratched area with 600 until almost smooth. Try not to rub all the way down to the plastic on this area.
Then prime the scratched area and rub down again. Repeat this stage until smooth. Use a finer grade each time and rub this part down finaly with 1200 also.
Then a couple of layers of colour, thinned down a little then same again with clear laquer (no thinners needed for the laquer). 500ml of each will be enough. 15mins between each coat.
Practice spraying on something first and you can get a great result.
Good luck, Rob.

using a proper spray booth, with proper equipment and the right paint and laquer.
If it was as simple as how you hold the can every sprayer would do cars in 5 minutes with halfords airosoles, coz itd b a damn site cheaper than the way its done

I just had my my02 WRX keyed down two doors tonight. Does anyone know of any good mobile companies that can sort this. I understand that there are firms that fix dents and scratches that come to you. Mine is wrc mica blue. Im in Sussex near gatwick, would be grateful for any help, Artwrx

Or get one of the mobile refurbishers to do it for half the bodyshop cost - £140 for full de-scuff and DBM respray on mine - pukka job. Did a great bumper dent repair on a neighbours Forester as well.
