Cool

Hi I posted this in General and got no joy so I will try here.

Can someone please supply me with the exact size, shape and dimensions of a genuine SUBARU 22B Rear Spoiler as I need to fight the TÜV and hopefully get some help from Subaru GmbH.

Also can anyone tell me (Mike Tuckwood) if the scoobymania 22B adjustable spoiler is homologated.

Here is an email between me and Subaru GmbH on the matter.

Cheer

Steve

Hello Steve Luther,

Thanks for writing us the below message and I will try to give you some background on that as follows:

As long as a spoiler is homologated, it is no problem to get the car TÜVd, as you say.
The question is how to find out whether a spoiler is homologated or not ?
If there is a number on the spoiler it makes it easier, but there is no need to have a number on it.
As long as a spoiler can be identified as the correct approved one by it's shape, apperance, concrete size or material, it is OK.

In your special case, it seems to be that the rear spoiler which the TÜV agreed on was approved with the vehicle by EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval.
The other spoiler, so called 22B, seems to have no approval. To get the 22B spoiler approved on the vehicle, you need to have a parts approval for that which normally the manufacturer has when the spoiler is dedicated for the German market.

Waht else can we do for you ? Please give us your message.
Kind regards

> I have a 22B adjustable rear spoiler which I got from England, I have been told by the TÜV that as this spoiler has no numbers on it, it can not be TÜV approved therefore is not ABEd therefore not allowed in Germany.
>
Today I had my car TÜVd with my original STi4 spoiler on the car as this is the one fitted as standard on the BJ2000 Impreza, this spoiler also has no numbers on it but it was accepted by the TÜV without any question.
>
Please can you tell me why the 22B spoiler with no numbers is not allowed but the STi 4 spoiler with no numbers is allowed in Germany.
>
Also can you please send me some paperwork that I can give to the TÜV explaining that the 22B spoiler is real and there is no problem fitting it to a BJ2000 Impreza Turbo.
>
I have attached a picture of the 22B spoiler fitted to my car before it was removed for the TÜV.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Hello Wurzel,

I'm from Luxembourg and we have similar laws (TUV etc) like in germany.

I'm afraid that there is not much you can do about this, as the 22B wing was made for the JDM only (or for the UK which is the only european country where you can put anything on your car without being bothered).

The only thing you can do is take it off and pass the TUV again with a low level wing (like the ones off a 96 car for example, as this would hide your additional holes in the trunk), I think nobody replies to your thread because they don't have those problems in the UK where entire JDM cars can be imported and put on the road which would be impossible here for private people....

Good luck, as I have to go to the TUV in a few months with my version 5 wing....I can already see it coming....
