Uk 2000 spoiler change
Swapping my standard spoiler for a sti spoiler.
I'm pretty handy with body work but if anyone has done this before and can let me know how many bolts are involved etc..would be appreciated
Cheers

What year is your car?
Mine was a 98 and it had four bolts holding the old flat spoiler..two were visible, two more under the rubber bump stops.
The new one went on with the same bolts, but has some screws through the bootlid into it's base to hold the base firm.
If you can get one, buy a genuine spoiler, NOT fibreglass.

I bought what I thought was a genuine one off eBay but not too sure when it came .

Easy enough. Get hold of some of this stuff: http://www.thecaravanshop.co.uk/work.../prod_513.html
Run a 10mm bead around the base of the spoiler, about 10mm in from the edge, and continuous beads around bolt holes and the wiring hole.
Once the spoiler is tightened down, it will waterproof, help to hold it in place and any excess can be removed with paper towels and white spirit.
It's non-setting, so if it ever needs to come off, it can.
BTW: that's the stuff for sealing the rear lights too, if they ever leak.

Another tip: the STi spoilers aren't lightweight, two people to hold it in place while you insert the bolts.
Then tighten until it can still move, lower boot lid, move it until you are satisfied, mark with marker pen, (water based), get helpers to hold it to marks and tighten....but do not OVER-tighten the bolts.
Don't forget to put the rubber bumpstops back.
