Default Changing from square lock to round lock on boot lid.

Unfortunately, I came across the dreaded spoiler rust yesterday on my 04 impreza.

I am torn between trying to fix it up, or locating a replacement boot lid which is rust free.

I have found a small number of lids available however they are the round lock type, my impreza has the square.

Is there anyway to change from the square lock to the round lock, taking the locks apart for instance? Or is there any information on what's involved in fitting the square lock to a round lock fitting hole?

I haven't yet found any WR blue ones with the square lock unfortunately!

Thanks

Yes it can be done you can notch out the round hole to square, the lock won't fit though. You can buy the square lock and new keys from subaru for about 40 quid

So I could in theory buy a round lock boot and retro fit my square lock fairly easily?

I'm debating whether to snap up a round one or hold out for a square! Hate knowing there is rust eating away under there!

How much material did you need to take out? Was it a big job or would you recommend holding out?
